Per chevron enhanced reversed Azure and Gules, in point embowed reversed Argent, in chief a mullet of the last.


CREST

From a wreath Argent and Azure, between two bamboo fronds Vert a representation of the Bronze Star, in base a stylized image example of the Vietnam War Memorial bearing the inscription 37W to dexter and L46 to sinister of the first.


SUPPORTERS

Behind the shield, five bamboo stalks erect in chevron Proper.


MOTTO

On a tripartite scroll Purpure, edged Argent, the inscription: VALOR SIN TEMOR in White letters, which translates to VALOR WITHOUT FEAR.

Symbolism

SHIELD

The shield colors and star allude to the Texas state flag. Heriberto Eddie Hernandez loved his home state, and a shipmate claimed, He was Texas. His neighbors in San Antonio described him as always willing to help in any way possible. The chevron represents the V device for valor, also denoting the bow of the boat where FN Hernandez was riding point during a small boat combat mission on the Rach Nang River, Republic of Vietnam. Hernandez posthumously received the Purple Heart Medal for his wounds and Bronze Star Medal with V device for his courage under fire and devotion to duty.


CREST

The bamboo fronds denote the location of Hernandezs combat operations mission on the Rach Nang River, Vietnam. The Bronze Star Medal represents Heriberto Hernandezs professional skill, courage under enemy fire, and devotion to duty. The Vietnam War Memorial representation is inscribed with the location of Hernandezs name on the wall.

The bamboo denotes the location of Hernandezs combat mission on the Rach Nang River.


SEAL

The coat of arms as blazoned in full color on a white circular field within a dark blue designation band, edged with a gold roped border and bearing the name USCGC HERIBERTO HERNANDEZ at the top and WPC 1114 at the base.
